Whence, once, there was a firm belief in the general principles of tolerance and understanding, rule by law, strong governmental institutions, anti totalitarianism … anti totalitarianism of either ideology or religion …. Whence, once, there was a firm belief in reason and degrees of moderation …. it seems that jauntily over time, as distrust of Western power, motives, American power, motives has taken root then the cherished cultural backings of western civilization have become fair game for dissenters and cultures and ideas less dominant, more at odds have come to assert their differences as differences of kind, not as differences degree, of choice, not of differences upon any common standard scale of human conduct. ….
The acts of being have come to triumph over the acts of believing, acting, codifying, examining ….. Rejection of an advanced notion of universal human behavior, advanced universal human value …….. happy retreats from the once gloried “Civilization” are happy retreats …. Joyously tis a melting pot of might makes right …. no longer steadily adding flavor to a valuable burgeoning stew.
