We push it . We worship it. We praise it to high hell and back.
We revel in it. We champion it. We hold ourselves as the high city on the silver hill … shining. shining, shining out the tender lights of human kind’s progress.
We practice it sublimely as we cherish it dearly.
We are rough and tumble and divine. We protect above all the principles of the democratic ideal.

Democracy is the loose structure that, unfortunately, puts road blocks in the way of loved tribalism, partisanship, power grabs, viscous mobs and authoritarian envy.
Principles shine like hell when they’re taken out and polished and shown off and cow towed to.
Nice show.
