Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing.  The dominant culture was respectable, respected, if not perfect, not perfect ….  and it was a good thing for other cultures to blend and to adapt and to melt into the dominant culture that many so admired from afar, from within.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing. There was an assumption that respect would be given to minority ways if minority ways were willing to respect that the culture they were aspiring to was worthy of respect and celebration.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing.   A blend with the smaller elements adding spice and deference to the blended, melded, stronger star spangled fireworks exploding whole.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing.

Patriots and heroes.  The prideful and the prudent.  The ever proud were of a mind to take the newly minted changes with the spirit of community, oneness, wholeness, nation …. the melded. the melders.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing.

And also once upon another time there was a synthesis.  A wrangling, a fusing, a battering, a dominating, suspending, retreating, challenging vital fight for the definition of the whole or the whole of the definition …. splinters, charges, domains, power contests, power balances, power imbalances.

Once there was a melting pot.  It was once a very good thing.

Once there were angels.  Once there were false gods.  Once there were  lovely narratives.

It was a very good thing.
