My America. Great like it is.

I got up this morning. My hates were all in tact.

I got up this morning. I ate breakfast.

I got up this morning. I’m still in my house.

I got up this morning. My heroes still stand for fighting off the onrush of hell on wheels.

I got up this morning. My job was still there.

I got up this morning. Didn’t have to give money to a bum at my door.

I got up this morning. Still had a door.

I got up this morning. My world looked the same. Other people’s kids fought other peoples wars. I cheered. I paid more than my share for everything else.

I got up this morning. Didn’t have to have a rational discussion about anything politic.

I got up this morning. Didn’t have to pretend that I wasn’t intimidated by the bastards and the bullies and the purists of pure one issue punks and intimidators.

I got up this morning. Didn’t have to pretend I had a backbone.
